One of our objectives in this exhibition is to demonstrate the ongoing importance, indeed renaissance, of mechanical and manual techniques in contemporary photography despite the advent of the digital age.
Collage of figures, plants, animals or still lives, cut out from illustrations of art magazines and the French auction house magazine, the Gazette de Drouot, pasted on to photographs of urban landscapes taken by the artist.
Collages of images of works of art - sculptures and paintings - cut out from old art history books and magazines, assembled and juxtaposed in strange or witty configurations against a neutral background.
Black and white photographic prints by the artist are re-photographed in combination with found objects, sculptures and architectural models, also made by the artist, in his studio. The resulting single photographic negative of assembled and juxtaposed elements is then hand tinted in brilliant and artificial colors and printed.
